Hypoxia Research At AU-KBC

Hypoxia is the deficiency in the amount of oxygen reaching body tissues. Hypoxia plays important roles in health and diseases. Hypoxia favors blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) that in turn leads to tumor growth. Hypoxia also contributes to the barrier dysfunctions in blood vessels. This condition is highly implicated in mountain sickness.

The objective of our lab is to explore the molecular mechanism of hypoxia associated vascular malfunctions at higher altitude.
